Another random tip, be careful not to choke on snowflakes. Random squall came up and I nearly choked on a snowflake.
This weekend we had our first snow and the winds and temps have combined to bring the feels like temperatures into the single digits. This is nothing compared to when we lived in Alaska, but admittedly I did't run outside then because the roads were always so slick! You can find lots of advise as to what to wear on the Internet, I find most guides to suggest more layers than I need though. Yesterday, the ambient temps were in the low 30s. I was out the door and a little warm in full length compression tights, my ever present Sparkle Skirt, a race t, Under Armour Cold Gear 1/4 zip, knit gloves, and fleece headband. I was very warm for the entire run and paced a little slower than normal. Not to mention, the fact that all this gear included just about every color imaginable so I looked like a three year old who dressed herself. I love Old Navy's Go-Warm compression tights and Under Armour's Cold Gear. They work out well for me, but honestly you will need to adjust your wardrobe to your temperature tolerances. To get you started though, go to Runner's World and check out there What to Wear guide. You answer a few questions and it gives you a list of items to wear. You can also select whether you would rather be cool, hot, or just right. Another random tip, be careful not to choke on snowflakes. Random squall came up and I nearly choked on a snowflake. I've begun training for the RNR USA half in March using MyAsics. It's a free program where you put in the date of your next event, current paces, and it gives you suggested running workouts. I originally selected 4 times a week, but that's just not possible right now with the amount of daylight that we have and my work schedule. I think I will adjust it back to 3 days per week until we get closer in. I'm hoping to PR at either Shamrock or RNR; let's see if we can get my mind and body on the right page. Right now, I'm running slower than slow.
